Through The Eyes Of A Child

We said goodbye to a year that birthed a vision to develop a platform for Building Family Relations (BFR), launched on the 30th of November 2024 at Premier Hotel, Midrand. Our intention is to be a catalyst in restoring families and as such, Building Family Relations (BFR) is a networking platform that supports, advocates and empowers families to build healthy relationships.

The opening theme was a mother-daughter roundtable. A BIG “Thank You” to everyone who attended and facilitated these discussions.

Our approach to building family relations is:
“through the eyes of a child”.

We coined this phrase to address the complexities around the concept of what makes a family – family. Given the many shapes and forms of family structures, it makes sense to use the eyes of a child regardless of the structure they were raised in.

The other advantage is that all of us are a product of a family and remain children to our parent(s). The ideas that we hold about what a healthy family is and should be – is informed by childhood lived experiences.

That is why our roundtable discussions follow a pattern that gives an opportunity of topical conversation to every member of the family. For instance, we started with a mother-daughter roundtable. Next up we will be hosting a father-son roundtable to discuss pertinent issues, ideas of what a healthy family looks like from a father-son perspective. Bearing in mind the fathers – remain sons to their own ‘fathers’. Just that thought is fascinating!

We are excited to enter this year with clarity of purpose.

Partner with us in any way that appeals to you. We welcome your gift, lived experiences, professional & vocational support and all other logistics that make for a successful event including hosting venues, finances and facilitation. Contact us to find out how to participate.

Happy New Year!
